Youth is approved at 4 US universities, in addition to USP, Unicamp and ITA

At the age of 9, São Paulo native Luís Fernando Valle won his first medal in a scientific Olympics. Today, at the age of 17, he collects 36 awards in national and international competitions in areas such as physics, robotics and astronomy. He has been to Colombia, Greece and even the Dominican Republic representing Brazil.

The more I studied, the more I became interested. When I realized, I was already learning astrophysics, electromagnetism and quantum mechanics

“In these competitions, I had contact with content from the most different areas of science at a much deeper level than I would have attended only high school. And the more I studied, the more I became interested. When I realized, I was already learning astrophysics, electromagnetism and quantum mechanics ”, he says. "And not because of the possibility of winning medals, but of understanding the world around me".

Luís' effort to "understand the world" has earned him very tangible achievements: he passed some of the most - if not the most - difficult entrance exams in Brazil. They are: Military Engineering Institute (IME), Aeronautical Technological Institute (ITA), State University of Campinas (Unicamp), University of São Paulo (USP) and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Which of these institutions did he choose? None.

Luís was also admitted to four North American universities ( New York, Yale, Cornell and Columbia ), the last three belonging to the Ivy League , a group formed by the eight most prestigious universities in the United States. “The application process is laborious and required a lot of dedication over a long period. But when the results came out it was very happy, I was ecstatic for almost two weeks ”, he says, laughing, without hiding his pride.

I dream of making some important discovery that contributes to the world. And I want to teach classes to pass this knowledge on

The teenager plans to study physics at Yale. But, for that, it seeks support to pay for the university's high tuition. Even with a partial scholarship, your family cannot afford the rest of the annuity. Luís is one of the 17 participants in the Crowdfunding Estudar Fora , a partnership of the Estudar Foundation with the Benfeitoria website to help young people with high potential to study at the best universities. Watch his video and participate!

“I want to learn from the best teachers in the world so that one day I will be able to carry out my own scientific research. I know that science is advancing slowly, but I dream of making some important discovery that will contribute to the world. And I want to teach classes to pass this knowledge on ”, he plans.
